One Coin to Rule Them All – Comparing Universal Platform Tokens in New Blockchain Games

As the world of new blockchain games continues to evolve, one powerful trend is beginning to gain traction. This is the use of a single in-house token that can be used across multiple games within a platform’s ecosystem. But not everyone uses this model in the same way. From Gala to Sandbox, each company is putting their own spin on how a universal token can be used across their platform.

So what are the benefits of using one token across multiple games? Will this dilute each title? Not exactly.

Axie Infinity (AXS)

Axie actually began life with two tokens – AXS for governance and staking and SLP for in-game rewards. However, while this allowed for economic separation it caused a lot of confusion among their legion of fans.

Insane Rewards and Locked In Designs! | March 2025 Recap | PLAYA3ULL GAMES

Welcome to the March Web3 Gaming recap by PLAYA3ULL GAMES! We’ll update you on each Web3 game, team, partnership, and other exciting events for PLAYA3ULL GAMES (PG).  These include new updates to NEXUS, ORDINEM, STARVIN MARTIAN, WAR OF STEEL, and DOGS OF WAR. Previews of new concept art and our thriving Discord members!

PLAYA3ULL GAMES Web3 Gaming Community Update

We ran many competitions and rewarded winners during March and released massive news about our Master Node Software.

Updates:

• 3ULL of the week is now changing to 3ULL of the month so they can get a longer time in the spotlight

• A big thank you to Mummy & Boni for their contributions to the 3ULL community, helping to create tutorials and guides for games!

• NEXUS one lane event has concluded

• The winners of the 333 event were announced! Congratulations to Slimbus & SoWhat who tied for third, winning 166k 3ULL each! Second place was Roosty earning 333K 3ULL and the winner was Hot who also claimed 333K 3ULL coin! Thank you to all 700+ entries for competing!

• Season 3 of the lemon draw was announced, SoWhat won the first ever golden lemon! Congratulations!

• The Lemon of the bi-week winner, Winter Cloud Gaming, also received a golden lemon. Congratulations!

• The first ever monthly VI3 event wrapped and it was a major success! The prize pool was for 100k 3ULL which was split between:

•  SoWhat and Reverse Bones each claimed 5K 3ULL, AdbouMh secured

•  10k 3ULL, Roosty took home

•  15k 3ULL, Hot triumphed with

•  25k 3ULL, and SeaZer dominated with an impressive

•  40k 3ULL. Congratulations to our winners!

• The current 3ULL of the month, Hot, generously gifted a free VI3 pass to a fellow member of the 3ULL community who was making a massive impact in the community. That winner was ZAID, congratulations!

Master Node Software Update:

• The master node software is now live! Each node is critical for building and continuing the growth of the community and games library.

• Get it installed now to prepare for node disqualification in about a month's time. This is only a beta release, so for now your nodes won’t be disqualified.

• Starting from the full release of the node software, nodes will require a full 8 hours of uptime per day to receive rewards or you will be disqualified and those rewards will go to other active nodes.

PLAYA3ULL GAMES Website Update

At the start of the month, we introduced VI3 passes! 

Updates:

• VI3 passes are a centralised way of purchasing different 3ULL passes in a more intuitive way.

• Created a smoother and more guided process for purchasing and bridging 3ULL coin, making it more accessible for more users.

• Developed a cleaner and streamlined way to buy, manage and sell reward tickets

After these changes to the 3ULL hub redesign, we will be shifting our focus to redesigning the Node Hub: providing dedicated tools for node owners and an upgraded profile and account area designed to enhance user interactions and user customisation.

DOGS OF WAR

DOGS OF WAR delivers stylish survival gameplay with a twist - you play as a hybrid canine-human genetically engineered for combat. 

Sniff out the updates here:

• Announcing a powerful new character “the great Dane” that will be coming to the alpha.

• Environment updates and new points of interest (POI’s) are being made, including survivor camps, small towns and military camps.

• The dogs will now react to the rocky terrain in the world thanks to a significant collision system upgrade.

STARVIN MARTIAN

Build your farming empire on Mars with STARVIN MARTIAN. Through challenges and rewards, expand your holdings by growing intriguing alien crops and raising exotic livestock.

Voyage into the latest updates:

• Final designs showcased for the hut and droid assets

• Locked in the final designs of essential gadgets from the STARVIN MARTIAN universe, including the nutrient machine, pie maker, printer anvil, solar sugar, soup maker, light loom, and plutonium grill.

WAR OF STEEL

WAR OF STEEL delivers fast-paced Battle Royale action, combining quick decisions, lightning reflexes, and explosive mech combat. 

Dive into its highly anticipated updates:

• Announced three new revamped weapons for the Alpha, including animations. This includes a machine gun, shotgun, and laser gun.

• A newly redesigned mech is bringing some serious firepower to the alpha!

NEXUS

NEXUS is a competitive third-person Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) shooter that soared to the #1 trending game on the Epic Games Store in its first week of release.  

NEXUS had no major updates this month but there will be many more in the next month!

March was a big month for our Master Node Software announcement and the 3ULL community that participated in all of those events. It’s been great to see all of the community members participating in the events and supporting each other to grow our community..

Web3 Gaming is Dead. Here’s how to fix it.

So you heard the rumour too? Web3 gaming is dead, right? Think again.

With social media alive with rumours of the death of Web3 gaming, we thought we better take a proper look at what is really going on. Strap in!

Web3 Gaming Isn’t Dead—It’s Only Getting Started

Following the unpredictability of the wider crypto market, Web3 gaming has been going through a crisis in recent months. 

With failed projects littering the wayside, it's clear that those who haven’t got their act together face an uphill battle. Not just for viral following but to actually get off the ground in the first place.

Like every major gaming revolution before it, whether it be the rise of mobile, free-to-play platforms, eSports, or digital skins, Web3 gaming is facing its share of scepticism.

However, as always, the reality is somewhat different. Disruption never comes easy and real change takes time. When you look more closely, what we’re witnessing isn’t the death of Web3 gaming but its transformation into something more powerful than you can ever imagine!

During the peak of the last crypto cycle, the Web3 gaming landscape was flooded with sensational hype and unsubstantiated speculation. A large number of projects had no business even calling themselves games as empty promises and rug pulls reigned supreme.

As you are no doubt aware, through 2020 and 2021 the Play-to-Earn (P2E) concept exploded. As many of us dreamed of giving up work with the promise of new careers and revenue streams, the P2E model dominated the landscape. Many hardcore gamers complained that Web3 gaming wasn’t even needed and that it was being pushed on them. When you also consider that many builders entered the space for extraction rather than innovation, the proliferation of poor-quality products across the market made perfect sense.

In the background, developers continued to build, confident in the knowledge that the market was evolving. Despite claims of its death, many Web3 gaming projects were still raising significant capital.

While Axie Infinity may have replaced wages for some, there was no turning back. The genie was finally out of the bottle. According to @SofiaCryptoVibe the lack of Axie Infinity-style hype doesn't mean death but maturity. The industry is now shedding the gimmicks and refocusing on what truly matters – the player.

In 2025, developers have learnt from their mistakes and are building immersive, engaging experiences that are truly worthy of your money. As always in business, it takes time to cut through the noise, find out what works, and refine the product into something that not only meets customer demands but pushes the boundaries of what was previously acceptable.
